    Work-Life Balance and Job Satisfaction among Malaysian Healthcare Employees

    Increasing participation of women and dual career couples into the employment world, together with the establishment of non-standard work arrangements have affected the employees' ability to juggle between work and life and therefore influencing the satisfaction in performing their job especially among those who are working in 24-hour operating companies such in a healthcare industry. Hence, this study among 681 employees of a Malaysian healthcare organization has found that there was a positive and significant effect of satisfaction with work-life balance towards job satisfaction and male workers were significantly more satisfied with their jobs as compared to the female counterpart.© 2016.     Manifestation of work-life balance in the Malaysian banking workforce: Transformational leadership the potent enabler

     Baby Boomers are soon reaching their retirement and the workforce vacancies will inevitably occupied by the Xers and Millennials. The two younger cohorts are drastically different from their senior echelon where work-life balance is of utmost important to them. Transformational leadership is claimed as the potent enabler to the practice of work-life balance. Consequently, this study aimed to examine the extent of the relationship between the two. Questionnaires were distributed to two domestic banks. Findings reported the relationship between transformational leadership and work-life balance. No differences, however, are shown between demographic profiles of gender, marital status and age about work-life balance.© 2016. The Authors.     Role Overload, Self- Efficacy, Locus of Control and Job Performance among Employees of a Printing Company in Malaysia

    Abstract: Job performance becomes the most commonly discussed issue in the recent years even though many research have been conducted. As the employee is the most important asset for an organization, various factors influencing the employee performance need to be ascertained. For companies that offer services to customers, their employees’ job performance could impact the loyalty of the customers and longevity of the business. However, constant dealing with high and various consumer demands, employees of printing company could easily be stressful hence requiring them to control their emotions. Therefore this study investigated the effects of role overload, self-efficacy, and locus of control towards employee job performance. A total of 67 employees of a small printing company located in Klang Valley, Malaysia had participated in the survey of this descriptive and correlational study. The results indicated that there was a strong positive relationship between self-efficacy and job performance, the meanwhile locus of control had a moderate positive relationship with job performance. This study contributes to the body of knowledge by validating the positive association of both self-efficacy and locus of control with employee job performance. The practitioners could also make reference to this study in order to properly manage the performance of their employees

    The issue of happiness in organisation has been debated among academicians, practitioners, and policy makers nowadays. This is because it provides an index of how well things are going within the organisational context. The ability for an organisation to track front-line employee’s happiness over time is a very useful in order to achieve organisation’s successful policies and practices. Some previous studies conducted to measure the relationship contribute of work-life balance effects in quality in life, life satisfaction and wellbeing. Also, the impact of decreased income on happiness has hardly been studied except through the drop in income due to unemployment. Therefore, this paper attempts to show the relationship of work-life balance and life satisfaction with the mediating role of happiness. The main problem is to relate the situation to the Malaysian Financial Sector work-life balance with sense of happiness by World Happiness Report to get the outcomes of life satisfaction. Perhaps for these reasons, towards the end of this paper, happiness is proposed to be measured in mediating concept by linking the relationship of work-life balance and life satisfaction

    The Determinants of Employee Attitude towards e-HRM–A Study of Engineering Company in Malaysia

    Electronic Human Resource Management (e-HRM) is “…the application of information technology for both networking and supporting at least at least two individual or collective actors in their shared performing of HR activities†(Strohmeir, 2007). Using a survey method, this study reports the determinant of employee attitude towards e-HRM in an engineering company in Malaysia. There are basically two major independent variables i.e. perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The overall results show that the employees had significantly positive attitude towards e-HRM as they perceived that the system is useful and easy to use. Data shows that they intend to use e-HRM and predict that they would use e-HRM in future. The findings of this research provide valuable insights for the management to create a positive attitude towards technological interventions especially in assisting human resource management. Hence, a company should enhance the employees’ understanding of the system through a proper and thorough training so that they will perceive the system as useful and easy to use

    Comparison of the business sustainability perception of Malaysian manufacturing SMEs / Yusmazida Mohd Yusoff... [et al.]

    The objective of this study is to determine the comparison of business sustainability practices according to demographic profile of manufacturing SMEs. The model of the survey is a descriptive survey model. There are 22 items on business sustainability that formed a part of a questionnaire using a five-point interval scale. Data were gathered from 168 respondents who were chosen by purposive sampling. A survey form was used as the data-gathering tool in the study. The data analysis in the study was conducted by using SPSS 23 package software. In the data analysis, descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H Tests were used. It was discovered that economic sustainability practices have statistical differences between gender and industry. In regards to social and environmental sustainability, there were no statistical differences according to demographic profile, except for age group and industry. This study helps to increase understanding of manufacturing SMEs about business sustainability

    Learning Organization and Work Engagement: An Empirical Evidence of a Higher Learning Institution in Malaysia

    Rapidly changing business environment requires organization to gain competitive advantage in order to survive. As people is known to be the most valuable assets to an organization, having employees that are actively engaged in their work can positively leads to higher performance and subsequently contribute to the success of the organization. One of the factors that would lead to work engagement among employees is through the learning organization concept which provides continuous learning and improvement, directly linked to an employee daily work and development. Despite its importance, seldom has it been reported in the literature that this paradigm has been examined. Therefore, this study attempts to determine: (i) the level of work engagement among employees; and (ii) the relationship between learning organization dimension and work engagement. Data collected from 150 employees of an institution of higher education revealed that work engagement among employees is at high level. Only four learning organization dimensions namely, empowerment, embedded system, environmental connection and strategic leadership were found to have positive and significant relationships with work engagement. The implications and consequences of the study findings for higher learning institutions are further discussed

    Employee Creativity: An Empirical Study of a Logistic Company in Malaysia

    This study looks into the consequences of four different types of psychological capital (i.e., self-efficacy, hope, resilience, and optimism) and leadership support toward employee creativity. Data were collected from 102 respondents among employees of a logistic company in Klang Valley, Malaysia. This study used purposive sampling, and the results were analysed using SPSS to find any significance between all independent and dependent variables. For findings, only leadership support was significant in predicting employee creativity while all dimensions of psychological capital were not. Therefore, this study provides empirical evidence supporting the importance of leadership support in enabling employee creativity. eISSN: 2398-4287 © 2022. The Authors.     Exploring the Influence of Technology, Lifestyle and Flexible Working Arrangements on Cyber Psychology among Employees at a Malaysian Investment Holding Company

    This study explores the relationship between cyberpsychology and its influencing factors among employees at an investment holding company (which will be addressed as XYZ Berhad). Understanding the impact of technology, lifestyle, and flexible working arrangements on employees' psychological well-being and behavior is crucial in today's digital workplace. With the prevalence of remote work and flexible arrangements, it becomes essential to examine how these factors influence employees' cyberpsychology experiences. Using a quantitative correlational approach, data was collected from 123 participants out of a total employee population of 174 at XYZ Berhad. The survey utilized Likert scale items to assess respondents' perspectives on technology usage, lifestyle choices, flexible working arrangements, and cyberpsychology. The findings reveal significant relationships between cyberpsychology and the influencing factors. Technology has a strong positive relationship, indicating its substantial impact on employees' psychological well-being and work behaviors. Similarly, lifestyle choices show a moderate positive relationship, highlighting the relevance of personal lifestyle preferences in shaping cyberpsychological experiences. Additionally, flexible working arrangement displays a medium positive relationship, underscoring the importance of work arrangements in influencing employees' psychological responses. The study recommends implementing awareness programs to help employees manage the psychological effects of technology usage and promoting the usage of online communication platforms to foster a positive organizational culture. Guidelines for employees working under flexible arrangements are advised to support their well-being and maintain a healthy work-life balance
